Suprise!

Hey Guys, This is Taryn from Style Phenomenon! I'm popping in to do a guest post while Alyssa is away in Vail. She's off in the mountains where its beautiful and snowy and magical while I'm stuck here in SoCal where its warm and sunny and bright all year long. You may think it sounds like a dream, but it gets old very fast, especially to a rain lover like me. Since I can't have my fantasy white Christmas here I've been pouring over wintry inspiration photos which I thought I'd share...

Daydreams

I didn't realize until AFTER I took the photos that my focus was on manual, and of course I forgot to correct it.

Vintage Nordstrom Point of View dress, vintage Clarissa shoes

For once I actually let my hair be what it is naturally. It depends on my mood if I'm willing to walk out of the house with stringy waves, but I felt it looked okay this time :)
My mom dragged this dress out of our garage a few years ago and gave it to me- I actually forgot about it until I found it at the back of my closet a few days ago! Of course my brother had to insult me, his exact words were "Are you wearing a dress from the stone age?"

P.S. Remember a while back I mentioned my mom and I were making a blog to sell a ton of her vintage clothing? Well, we've been hard at work getting it ready, my BFF Taryn has been modeling for us, and we are almost ready to open! We have about 500 pieces, it's INSANE.

long locks and flowing dresses

My eyes have been captivated by visions of long tresses and beautifully sweeping garments, inspiring me to run through fields of flowers in the wind, to songs of Adele and Jeremy Messersmith, with layers of chiffon streaming behind me. Romantic, girly, effortless, beautiful, free- all these words escape my mind when I see such images. I hope to one day both partake in and produce such beautiful art.

Boy Meets Girl

Well, the menswear trend has definitely hit this year, and personally I couldn't be happier. I've always loved the concept but felt I couldn't pull it off. So as I continued to see the trend appearing on some of my favorite runways, I decided to gather up some 'inspiration' and give it a shot.
Not to mention Patti Smith is one of my idols, and she constantly rocked the menswear trend.
My take is at the bottom, after the extremely long list of inspiration pictures...

My Take:

Note: This will be the first time I've attempted this style, so let me know how I did!

L. Bates blazer, Harris/Wallace vintage trousers, Lsuhh tee, vintage belt, Steve Madden booties.

I just got these booties in the mail, I am officially in love. With the gorgeous black suede, patent wrapped platform and heel, and a towering 5 inches, how could you NOT love them?

So, will you be rocking the menswear trend this fall/spring?
