long locks and flowing dresses

My eyes have been captivated by visions of long tresses and beautifully sweeping garments, inspiring me to run through fields of flowers in the wind, to songs of Adele and Jeremy Messersmith, with layers of chiffon streaming behind me. Romantic, girly, effortless, beautiful, free- all these words escape my mind when I see such images. I hope to one day both partake in and produce such beautiful art.

Boy Meets Girl

Well, the menswear trend has definitely hit this year, and personally I couldn't be happier. I've always loved the concept but felt I couldn't pull it off. So as I continued to see the trend appearing on some of my favorite runways, I decided to gather up some 'inspiration' and give it a shot.
Not to mention Patti Smith is one of my idols, and she constantly rocked the menswear trend.
My take is at the bottom, after the extremely long list of inspiration pictures...

My Take:

Note: This will be the first time I've attempted this style, so let me know how I did!

L. Bates blazer, Harris/Wallace vintage trousers, Lsuhh tee, vintage belt, Steve Madden booties.

I just got these booties in the mail, I am officially in love. With the gorgeous black suede, patent wrapped platform and heel, and a towering 5 inches, how could you NOT love them?

So, will you be rocking the menswear trend this fall/spring?

Dia De Los Muertos// Inspiration Compilation 3

I really need to start blogging more....sorry! I love all my followers though, for putting up with me :)
So I was planning on doing a post about my favorite picks of Paris fashion week, but it's taking me forever to get through all the shows on style, so I've decided to do another Inspiration Compilation, since I haven't done one in a while.

~ ~ ~ ~

Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is the Latin American holiday celebrating deceased friends and family members. Scholars trace the origins of the modern holiday to indigenous observances dating back thousands of years and to an Aztec festival dedicated to a goddess called Mictecacihuatl. People go to cemeteries to be with the souls of the departed and build private altars containing the favorite foods and beverages as well as photos and memorabilia of the departed. The intent is to encourage visits by the souls, so that the souls will hear the prayers and the comments of the living directed to them. Depending on the country where it is celebrated, people also dance and wear skeleton masks or paint their faces, in memory of the deceased.

I've always been fascinated with this holiday and the history of it, and it's inspired me to do a 'dia-de-los-muertos' themed shoot. I have this journal filled with thousands of pages of pictures and poems and fabric, all inspiration for potential photoshoots with my bestie Taryn. I have yet to actually do one of my thousand shoots, because time is not my friend. But these pictures are definitely going in my journal! Enjoy!
